Scholarships Awarded to Outstanding Bellaire Seniors The Alumni and Friends of Bellaire High School have just awarded scholarships for the 2017-2018 school year. Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, grade point average, class rank, and community involvement. This year, four $2,000 scholarships have been awarded to these outstanding students. Erin Eby who plans to attend Texas A&M, Kevin Guo, who plans to attend Stanford University, and Ceara Felder, who plans to attend Texas State University.
Another scholarship is given annually in memory of Sherry Senior, who taught Math at Bellaire High School. This year’s recipient of Mrs. Senior’s scholarship is Ashley Melissa Gamez Montalvo, who plans to attend University of Houston.
The Alumni also awarded a Faculty of the Year Award to Jean Carcedo, a Pre-Calculus and Pre-AP Geometry Teacher and the Outstanding Staff Award to Marta Flores de Gomez.
The Alumni and Friends of Bellaire High School (AFBHS) was organized in 1994 to provide annual student scholarships, improvements to the school, and provide faculty and staff awards to support the dedication of their work at BHS. The Alumni and Friends have given over $1,000,000 in scholarships over the years. Funds are raised through our annual alumni golf event, alumni donations, and sale of Cardinal Courtyard Bricks (which will continue after the school’s renovation).
Any graduate of Bellaire High School is encouraged to register with the website to keep informed of all alumni events, class reunions, and school happenings.

Dear Class of '78 Cardinals - On behalf of Merry Kay and the planning committee, we want to let you know the date we're targeting for the 40-year reunion is Saturday night, April 14, 2018, at the Marriott West Loop (610 at San Felipe).
Our company, Reunions by Class Act, has been asked by the committee to coordinate the event. That means it'll be casual, affordable and a lot of fun -- and will "look" quite a bit different than the past reunions for the class.
Yes, we're in a hotel ballroom, but it will be set up to reflect that this is a party, not the prom. Instead of being filled with large, round tables, the room will have cocktail and "tall-boy" tables, and even a couple of sofas. Don't worry - there'll be plenty of places to sit. Another nice feature: The bar will be set up to accept charge cards.
In order to finalize the details, and make sure there's enough interest to move forward, we need 20 of you to go ahead and register (pay) by 5 p.m. next Wednesday, Nov. 29. For you "early birds," the cost is only $40 per person. (The regular cost will be at least $5 more.) Please note: Your payment won't be processed until we reach our goal.
